African Community Bridge Foundation and its implementing partner Sustainable Development International LLC (SDI) have established collaborative partnerships with the Center for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and International Development (CELID) at the University of the District of Columbia. This collaboration with ACBF/SDI, CELID seeks to provide consulting expertise to integrate a focus on water across agriculture, health and climate work by expanding access to water supply and sanitation to promote better hygiene; increase water productivity in agriculture to boost output while conserving a precious resource; and improve water resource management. Through CELID, the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences will provide training and cutting-edge curriculum in urban agriculture to improve the nutrition density in crops; provide instructions to inculcate entrepreneurial skills leading to job and wealth creation; use of cost-effective methods to promote conservation leading to effective water management and environmental protection; train young farmers in the art of sustainable agriculture as a business platform; foster the use of world-wide best practices to fight hunger and strengthen food security; and train students in the production and deployment of appropriate renewable energy that facilitates clean environment and self-sustaining systems.
